Teeth Whitening

Like many people,, you may feel unhappy with the color of your teeth. You want an effective way to remove the stains that give your teeth that dull, yellow appearance. Maybe you have even tried over the counter bleaching products with little to no success. With our professional whitening system, now you can achieve that brilliant smile you have been dreaming of!

There are many causes of tooth discoloration. These include:

  • Stains from tobacco, coffee, tea, soda, red wine, berries or any food or drink with dark pigmentation
  • Plaque and tartar deposits that have built up
  • Use of the antibiotic Tetracycline during childhood (this creates dark “ribbons” of color)
  • Over ingestion of fluoride while teeth are forming (this gives teeth a “mottled” look)
  • Trauma to the mouth and teeth which can cause yellow, brown and gray spots
  • The natural aging process

In-Office Whitening

Our in-office whitening procedure is a fast, effective way of lightening your tooth color by several shades. You may expect the following during your whitening treatment. First, your teeth will be cleaned and then a protective agent will be placed on your gums. Once the bleach is applied to your teeth, it will need to sit for up to an hour.

If you have severe stains, you may be advised to schedule a follow up bleaching in order to attain your desired shade. We recommend avoiding tobacco use and any food or drink with a high level of pigment for 24 hours after your whitening procedure to allow the enamel pores to close before staining agents are reintroduced.

Take Home Whitening

We also offer professional take home whitening kits. If you choose this method of whitening, we will first need to take a mold of your teeth. It will then be sent to our dental lab to create your custom fitted whitening trays. We will show you the proper way to apply the solution to the trays and discuss how long you need to wear them each day. Remember to brush and floss your teeth before you use your whitening trays. While your trays are in place you will not be able to eat, drink, or smoke. You will be asked to return to our office at the end of your whitening period so that we may examine your results and see if any additional procedures are necessary.
